It looks like the belt has flipped over somehow and half of it dispersed. Thanks to an attentive spectator in the paddock, who reported the issue while looking at our engine bays, nothing serious happened to the engine.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.speed-industries.ch\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/IMG_1352.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.speed-industries.ch\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/IMG_1352.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"IMG_1352\" width=\"598\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2928\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.speed-industries.ch\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/IMG_1352.jpg 2592w, https:\/\/www.speed-industries.ch\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/IMG_1352-300x224.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.speed-industries.ch\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/IMG_1352-1024x764.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 2592px) 100vw, 2592px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We decided to cut the belt and continue boostin&#8216; into the afternoon. Not try&#8217;n to be a complete wimp, but drifting in a PWS car without PWS is nearly impossible. So I decided to go all-in with grip racing, although the steering felt like in a go-kart, but with a 200kg engine on the front axle.<br \/>\nSuprisingly, it didn&#8217;t work out that bad. Actually the steering feel was improved. But I struggled hard when the car oversteered, because you just can&#8217;t react that fast, when the amount of effort needed, is that high!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.speed-industries.ch\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/IMG_1353.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.speed-industries.ch\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/IMG_1353.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"IMG_1353\" width=\"598\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2929\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.speed-industries.ch\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/IMG_1353.jpg 968w, https:\/\/www.speed-industries.ch\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/IMG_1353-224x300.jpg 224w, https:\/\/www.speed-industries.ch\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/IMG_1353-764x1024.jpg 764w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 968px) 100vw, 968px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Now whatever was the cause of this failure, it looks as if a PWS belt can be a weak link on an RB25&#8230;<br \/>\nMaybe it was over-tensioned or loose. And the part is dirt cheap. It cost me CHF 9.- to replace. Now I always have a spare one in the trunk.
