\nIn the old days, Andrew’s car looked quite stock<\/em><\/p>\n

We believe Andrew is a great addition to the team, being an easy-going person with good skills and the hunger to go big in the drifting scene.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Like many drifters, Andrew is an adrenaline freak. In his spare time he also likes to ride motorcycles, used to play semi-professional hockey and even play golf. Ok that’s a new one for a drifter. Maybe golfing helps with having a steady hand on the steering wheel. Also, golfers have lots of balls which is a requirement for pro drifting too.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Andrew is half American. But for unknown reasons he’s not that fat. He lived in both south and north America, but was born and raised in Geneva, Switzerland.<\/p>\n

\"\"
\nAndrew at KD Race back in 2009, the first time we drifted together<\/em><\/p>\n

I met Andrew for the first time in 2009. Back then we did a mad roadtrip to import Fabricage rollcages from the UK to Switzerland.<\/p>\n

\"\"
\nHis car looks much more serious these days<\/em><\/p>\n

Andrew was one of the people who ordered one, so we delivered it to Geneva personally. He was at his home with a few buddies, working on an Evo in the garage. Instantly, there was great chemistry so a few weeks later we joined in at a drifting event in France where he was attending as well. (KD Race 2009)<\/p>\n

That event turned to be quite life changing for both of us – We both registered for a PRO drift competition for the first time and to our surprise qualified for the Top16 battles.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Andrew had to go up against Paul Vlasblom from Driftking.nl. The guy was a true pro drifter already. He annihilated Andrew in a 2-stint battle, with Andrew suffering from being a bit nervous and hasty in his runs. (plus the fact Vlasblom has started drifting a hundred years ago and was much more experienced in battle)<\/p>\n

\nAndrew in Monza where he met Team Speed Industries for the first time<\/em><\/p>\n

Then I was eaten alive by Vlasblom in the Top8 battles as well. Ouch..<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

These battles were enough to get us hooked to drift competitions and left us longing for more!<\/p>\n

\"\"
\nNice dent there. This happened at Monza as well.. everybody took home some bruises<\/em><\/p>\n

Andrew disappeared to America for a year after that to finish his degree in neuro advanced rocket science or something<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

One year later in 2011, Andrew came back out of nowhere! When I heard he’s back in town, I asked him to join us in Monza for a D1 Stella<\/a> drift training where the team was invited to.<\/p>\n

\"\"
\nOn his first appearance with the team in Monza, Andrew showed what he’s made of!<\/em><\/p>\n

He came with his freshly upgraded S14a and went absolutely mental on the track – the difference between seeing him drive in 2009 and 2011 was night and day.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Turns out the sneaky bastard attended a Team Orange drifting training in late 2010 over in Italy.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

I don’t know what they did to him there but it looks like they injected the spirit of angry unicorns and big angle right into his bloodstream.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Ok I’m exaggerating now but I felt he learned quite a lot about car control.<\/p>\n

\"\"
\nRecently at the Speed Industries season opening event in Zurich<\/em><\/p>\n

I guess the challenge now will be to pull out the same performance during competition as in practice. Remaining calm and focused even when the stakes are high is the hard bit.. Going mental during training stints is much easier since there’s no pressure.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

We started discussing internally of having him on the team. However we wanted to see some more so he was invited to the Speed Industries Drift & Grip trackday in March 2011<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\nflaaaames!<\/em><\/p>\n

The rest is history since he fit into the madhouse that is Team Speed Industries right from the start.<\/p>\n

\nMost work is done by Andrew and his friends in his parents garage<\/em><\/p>\n

We feel proud to have another promising driver in our ranks and are looking forward to absolutely kill it together in the 2011 IDS & D1 Stella competitions.<\/p>\n

Andrew will also be running in the french Driftchallenge.fr and try to go for gold there!<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n
