What I did have is a brain that is malfunctioning most of the time. I cancelled the hotel booking in France, grabbed the trailer with the Z\u00dcRIDRIFT S14 and my last 2 sets of almost worn out tires. Many thanks to DirtDrop Media<\/a> and Fabian Linder for the photography and video!<\/p>\n

\nSpeed Industries trailer arrives! Even though nobody asked for us today..<\/em><\/p>\n

We started off early in the morning, hoping that some dudes car will explode, allowing me to take over his starting spot at the event.<\/p>\n

Neuhausen was the place where I first started sliding my stock S14 many years ago. Back then, it was usually just 10-15 cars on site. I realized that Drift-Schule.de have since then made huge efforts to prepare this airfield track, and there were over 50 cars there! It was mad!<\/p>\n

\nThere was a shitload of cars at the event..<\/em><\/p>\n

After hanging out in the sun for 90 minutes, finally somebody\u2019s car exploded (probably an S14) and I was allowed to register in the PRO group. (there were four groups, from novice to pro)<\/p>\n

Around that time, Marco from Dirtdrop.ch<\/a> appeared out of nowhere, bringing in his full video and photography equipment in his Dirtdrop volvo.<\/p>\n

Fabian Linder was also there to take a few snaps! Brilliant.<\/p>\n

We unloaded the car and went smashing. The track was a mix of low-speed technical corners and a few high speed sweepers which allowed mental angle and speed!<\/p>\n

Even though they watered the track to keep the noise levels down, the grip on this airfield track was incredible! The car accelerated nicely out of the corners, allowing for some serious entry speeds.<\/p>\n

\nThe speeds on the wet track were surprisingly high<\/em><\/p>\n

I went mental for .. oh at least 10 minutes when my rear right brake disc exploded in a shower of debris. Turns out the fucker was already broken before I set off and the heat from handbrake manoeuvres finished the job.<\/p>\n

Luckily, some random mechanic dudes came over and fixed my brake calliper using zip ties. Many thanks guys! I couldn’t use my handbrake anymore, which turned out to be great training for me since I had to rely just on the right timing and foot brake to connect the entire track sideways.<\/p>\n

\nBut brake discs are overrated anyway! Zipties and hope will do just fine.<\/em><\/p>\n

After a few laps, I felt right at home and the madness started once again.<\/p>\n

Since this was a short-notice event, it was just me, drifter trainee Aline Kanab\u00e9, Roman from Chip-Racing and Dirtdrop Media on site. We decided it was time for some shenanigans.<\/p>\n

Marco found out that if you put cans and bottles into the boso-exhaust, it could hurl the litter into the air like a retarded trash bazooka! Brilliant.<\/p>\n

We also found out jump-shots are funny as seen here:<\/p>\n

The day was well organized, and even though there were only 10-minute stints for each group, there was more than enough driving time for everyone!<\/p>\n

The Chip-racing guy was running just his second drift-training and he was already doing very well, connecting the corners nicely and losing the fear of sliding this beautifully modified car.<\/p>\n

\nThe Chip-Racing dude was getting better and better during the day<\/em><\/p>\n

After a few stints, his car looked more like it just ran at a rally special stage rather than a drifting event. I also struggled sometimes with the dirt on my windows, flying into corners completely blind just looking out of the small hole in the plastic side windows.<\/p>\n

After every stint, a tractor roamed the track to pour on more water.<\/p>\n

\nWe used the tractor for a quick carwash… not a good idea.<\/em><\/p>\n

We decided it could be a good idea to overtake the tractor while it was watering to clean my car and windscreen.
\nUnfortunately I didn’t close the plastic windows so Marco and I were sprayed with cold water, screaming like sissies in the process.<\/p>\n
