Hi guys<\/p>\n

So today I worked on our rental car, a Nissan S13 and did a nice brake upgrade.
\nThe whole car is running on a budget since we want to keep rental costs rather low but the braking department was definitely something we had to address.<\/p>\n

After the first outing on track the brakes had quite a bit of fading and so we decided to upgrade the front setup.
\nThere are a lot of different possibilities to choose from, but we did not want to go with something like AP Racing, Endless or Brembo.
\nNissan has plenty of brakes which are almost plug and play for the S13 and this should be enough stopping power for our rental car.<\/p>\n

Obviously the R33\/34 GTR setup would have been the nicest one but we had a set of R33 GTsT ones readily available so picked that one.<\/p>\n

\nAs you can see from the picture the brake calipers are a big step up. The Skyline brakes are 4 piston calipers where the S13 ones only have one piston.
\nThese did fit straight up to the original knuckles and no adjustments where needed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n

\nWeight is also an issue here since it is unsprung mass on the suspension.
\nThe Z32 and Skyline brakes are much lighter then the S14 ones.<\/em><\/p>\n

The discs are also a big step up from 250mm diameter to 280mm diameter.
\nIt does not sound like much but it will be a big difference on track.
\nSkylines have a PCD of 5×114 and the S13 only has 4×114 so we needed to redrill the holes.<\/p>\n

\nAfter some minor additional grinding they did fit straight on the hubs and was looking promising.<\/p>\n

Now the only problem left was the banjo bolt.
\nWe retained the S13 ones but they where slightly too long and brake fluid would have been going everywhere but the calipers.
\nSo we had to shorten them by around 3mm. After that we just added new copper gaskets and everything was mounted.<\/p>\n

Tomorrow we will have to put in new brake fluid and bleed the system.
\nThen we are off to Anneau du Rhin where the rental car will be ready and available for our customers.<\/p>\n
