{"id":7771,"date":"2013-07-04T05:00:39","date_gmt":"2013-07-04T03:00:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/testo.speed-industries.ch\/wordpress\/?p=7771"},"modified":"2013-07-03T17:02:19","modified_gmt":"2013-07-03T15:02:19","slug":"speed-industries-at-driftcup-2013","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.speed-industries.ch\/wordpress\/2013\/07\/04\/speed-industries-at-driftcup-2013\/","title":{"rendered":"<!--:de-->Speed Industries at Driftcup 2013<!--:--><!--:en-->Speed Industries at Driftcup 2013<!--:-->"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!--:de-->So every year in June we set out to conquer Anneau du Rhin during the driftcup organized by Team MSO from France.<\/p>\n<p>This is always a great event, with lots of visitors and a good vibe.<br \/>\nTeam Speed Industries is usually in the mix with several cars and so was it this year too.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.speed-industries.ch\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/1048654_10151669051904840_758607424_o-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"1048654_10151669051904840_758607424_o\" width=\"598\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>We had Capo and Jo going for their first drift race, both were super excited and a bit nervous.<br \/>\nAndrew and me signed up for the pro class and were also very excited about the event.<\/p>\n<p>So Friday came and we took off towards Anneau after a busy week.<br \/>\nArriving around 3pm we started to set up camp and got everything in line.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.speed-industries.ch\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/Foto-14.06.13-21-55-49-1024x764.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"Foto 14.06.13 21 55 49\" width=\"598\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>The technical inspection officers came through and checked our cars. Everything was fine.<br \/>\nAround 6pm there was the first briefing and the organizers and judges gave us an outline of the schedule and what they wanted to see on track.<\/p>\n<p>So soon after this we set out and got some practice runs in.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.speed-industries.ch\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/DSC_0100-X3-1024x680.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"DSC_0100-X3\" width=\"598\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>After the first session I had way too much grip on the rear so I switched dimensions on the rear and tire pressure.<br \/>\nSecond session was much better and I was feeling comfortable for the next day.<br \/>\nAndrew only got very little laps in due to yellow flags on track and was not that happy about it.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.speed-industries.ch\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/DSC_0499-X3-1024x680.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"DSC_0499-X3\" width=\"598\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>Our rookies Jo and Capo got a few laps in and were struggling with the layout and their road legal cars.<br \/>\nSo Andrew and me did the best we could to help them setup their cars to make things easier.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.speed-industries.ch\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/1008508_273393256134388_1326106447_o-1024x667.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"1008508_273393256134388_1326106447_o\" width=\"598\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>Saturday came spirits were high after all.<\/p>\n<p>Andrew and me started qualifying in the afternoon.<br \/>\nWe got 1 warm up lap and 3 for qualifications.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.speed-industries.ch\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/1052165_688884601125438_421003155_o-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"1052165_688884601125438_421003155_o\" width=\"598\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>I managed to put in some decent laps with kicking most of the clipping points.<br \/>\nAndrew was only half happy with his laps.<\/p>\n<p>As it turned out Andrew got 17th with 65 points missing the top 16 only by 2 points.<br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"598\" height=\"336\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/30YW3wgRvyI\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>I got 94 points in my second run which put me into 3rd place.<br \/>\nOnly Dirtdrop Phil (95) and Uwe Sener (96) got more points.<\/p>\n<p>Once again I got mixed feelings qualifying up the ladder. As some of you might know that did no really go to plan the last couple of times.<br \/>\nBut when I saw that I was up against Markus Militzer it was cool. Too bad.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.speed-industries.ch\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/1052869_10151670970264840_1784423676_o-1024x548.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"1052869_10151670970264840_1784423676_o\" width=\"598\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Then it was my turn.<br \/>\nWe got in the cars and up to the line.<br \/>\nUwe was leading the first run and I chased him.<br \/>\nAt one point I did get into the dirt with at least one tire so I guess it was a big advantage to him.<\/p>\n<p>Then it was on me to lead.<br \/>\nI accelerated and entered the first turn.<br \/>\nThen baaam, Uwe hit me into the side.<br \/>\nI stopped drifting because I was unsure if the steering and rear wheel was still ok.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"598\" height=\"336\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/oa1KPn-nOPI\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Back to the start line it was a confusing situation. I checked the car and it looked ok.<br \/>\nThen the judges called for one more time, which was cool with me. I always like to get some extra driving.<\/p>\n<p>So Uwe started again and I chased.<br \/>\nUp until half of the track it was all good and then suddenly he washed out like crazy.<br \/>\nI did not really know where to go so I just overtook him.<br \/>\nHe stopped because something with his steering was bad.<br \/>\nI realized it was probably due to the accident we had and it turned out his steering was quite a bit bent.<br \/>\nThis was just bad luck on his side and it is not cool to win this way.
