We met up at the\u00a0super\u00a0secret Speed Industries underground racecar bunker in the center of Zurich around 4pm.<\/p>\n

\nThe driftcars will stay parked tonight. Oh the misery!<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

We would be running in the „Run 4 Fun“ class where ridiculous costumes were allowed. This was perfect for us, since we believe wearing neon-colored skintight running pants is extremely lame.<\/p>\n

\nFinally we were ready to rumble!!!<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Wearing wide, lumpy and embarassing animal suits imported from japan on the other hand, now that is cool! Our main concern was that we\u00a0wouldn’t be able to\u00a0start\u00a0because a thousand hot chicks would be\u00a0chasing us down in our\u00a0erotic costumes!<\/p>\n

We went to the starting grid and noticed quite fierce competition! There were at least 50 santa clauses. Most of them looked\u00a0quite fat and slow but there were a few contenders that could cause the team some trouble.<\/p>\n

\n750 participants were running in our „Run 4 Fun“ class. It’s a WAR!<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Also, some random\u00a0TRAITORS were wearing bear suits just like Thomas from our team. It was my personal mission to beat them at their own game. Damn bear fakers!<\/p>\n

\nThe enemy bears. Those guys were quite fast, and stole our costume idea! We had to fight back<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

When the race was started, around 750 people started pushing trough the gates to the 2.2 km long track that led right trough downtown Zurich while thousands of people stood on the side to cheer everybody on! It was awesome, except for the fact that my lung started to implode after like 10 minutes of running.<\/p>\n

\nSwen was still smiling even on\u00a0lap 2,\u00a0while most of my internal organs were imploding<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Nonetheless we pushed on for 2 laps and managed to beat the fat santas! However, I failed my mission and was overtaken by the\u00a0two fake bears just before the finish.<\/p>\n

\nIs that a happy face, or\u00a0a face of PAIN? Most likely the latter as it started to get\u00a0tough on lap 2<\/span><\/p>\n

Within the team, Tobias came in 1st. However he was cheating by using drum’n’base music to boost his body to new heights and put me in 2nd place by at least 30 seconds.\u00a0Also,\u00a0I’m pretty sure he used doping and tied my shoelaces together before the start!<\/p>\n

\nSpeed Industries represent!!!<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

We also gave two short radio interviews because people seemed to be wondering why we were dressed up like downs-syndrome patients. The biggest Swiss TV channel was also filming on site, but I’m not sure sweaty drifters running around\u00a0in animal suits would appeal to their target audience.<\/p>\n

We then returned to the mega secret Speed Industries bunker to slumber and rest.<\/p>\n

All in all a great effort by the team and a great spectacle! We finished around the top 300, which is\u00a0actually quite good\u00a0if you consider our self-destructive lifestyle.<\/p>\n

\nYou can tell we were just slightly exhausted after the event<\/span><\/p>\n

And next year\u00a0we’ll beat those goddamn bears.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Team Speed Industries was registered to run at the annual Zurich „Silvesterlauf“. The team ran two laps with a total of 4.4km and learned that events without driftcars can be fun too!
