Classic from the 80’sClassic from the 80’s

If you talk about a Nissan Skyline most people think about the R34 GTR. A few know about the R32 and the R33, maybe even the first generation. But the Skyline name never died and was in production all the time.
Very little know about the existence of the DR30 models.

This particular car was bought in late 2009 and arrived here in spring 2010. The extensive mod list and crazy exclusivity in Europe makes this one a hard find and we did not stop there. When the car arrived id did not run prperly due to some problems with fuelling. As it turned out the fuel tank was done as was the fuel pump. So we sourced a brand new fuel tank from Japan and a replacement pump for the external Bosh unit.

During the work on the car we realized the full spec of the car. This car was properly built at one time in Japan. It has a lot of HKS goodies thrown at it, a funky 8 injector setup, a nice Garret turbo with external wastegate, JIC suspension and lots more. Since we do not know the exact history of the car we think it was either built as a show car or for Wangan. The FJ20 engine is still famous for its reliability and toughness. The block was one of the strongest of its time.
The interior shows the flavor of the 80’s in its purest form. There are no curves, just angles. It is the same on the outside. It looks really menacing with its front, low stance and bumpers.

From what I know there are only about five DR30s in Europe. With none of them built do a spec like this. This is one rare breed.

One particular moment I remember was turning on the cassette deck. There was a tape in there with authentic Japanese pop music. That was probably the most hilarious moment I had while working on a car.

Unfortunately the car will never be registered in Switzerland since the modification are much too advanced for what our lawyers could handle.

So now the car got some more treatment and is for sale.
