Corner Talk: Anneau du Rhin, our benchmark testerCorner Talk: Anneau du Rhin, our benchmark tester

Over the past years I have visited numerous racetracks around the world and was fortunate enough to get to drive on tracks in Germany, France, Japan and the USA. There is no track though which has seen me more then Anneau du Rhin in France.

This track is more or less our home turf since it is rather close and we do trackdays there quite often. So always when I have new parts on a car or switch the setup then I test it there be it for grip or drift. During grip driving I usually have a Racelogic driftbox with me which can tell me lap times. For drifting it is just my guts who tell me if it is ok or not. 😉

Our annual Time Attack also brought some benchmark times over the last years which do help a lot if you want to know if you and your car are fast.

For grip driving and time attack we usually set the track up that we get the most difficult version, meaning we use the chicane in the back and setting it up in the longest version. This gives us an estimated length of 3.0km per lap. (Please do not take the red lines as the proper racing line!!)

A few benchmark times I posted over the last few years:

Ae86: 137hp, 900kg without driver, Toyo R888, 1.37.00

GC8: 350hp, 1250kg without driver, Toyo R888, 1.30.9

Times from Time Attack participants:

Caterham: no idea about the figures, Semi Slicks: 1.28.7

EG6: 300hp, 800kg without driver, Semi Slicks: 1.29.1

S14: 380hp, 1280kg without driver, Semi Slick: 1.29.9

Should you want to benchmark your car on this or any other track then be aware, there is nothing you can win and if you trash it you have to pay for the damage. Driving a car on the edge needs a lot of experience and knowledge of the respective circuit.
But of course you can hand your car always to us to benchmark it. 🙂

PS: Should you have your own experiences and times with the same layout of the track then please feel free to post them in the comments. Would be interesting to get more times.
