Top race track parts out of my personal experienceTop race track parts out of my personal experience

In this article I want to talk about some famous sections of race tracks which I have personally experienced in some way.

1. Hump and Wall at Ebisu, Minami
I visited the D1 round at Ebisu back in 2008 and experienced this first hand. When I got there by foot I realized that this section is much steeper then you would expect it from videos or fotos. Then you just have one D1 driver after the other racing down that section sideways at like 120km/h or more. This is one crazy track section, believe me.

2. Fuchsröhre at Nordschleife
This down- and uphill section and the resulting compression is unbelievable when you get there the first time. I still remember like yesterday how the camera in my co-drivers hand just recorded the carpet in the first lap. Hehe.
Even more crazy is if you see VLN drivers going all out in this section at like 200km/h or more.

3. Corkscrew at Laguna Seca
In 2009 me and a friend sneaked up into the race track with our rental and took 2 laps. First time we entered the corkscrew we did not know about the proper line and just came down on the grass inside the turn. At least we did not crash like I always do in the games. 😉
When you are on top of corkscrew you do not see anything at all about where you are going.

That car on the left was about our line.

4. Main straight at Fuji
I have visited Fuji in 2008 and 2010 both times it was only a regular day with various cars on the track.
In 2008 my friend from Japan brought his nicely specced FD out and went for it at the track. It was crazy seeing him overtaking everything on the main straight and getting up to like 230km/h on the 1km long straight.

5. Döttinger Höhe at Nordschleife
We alwas have this section open at our trackdays and it is just crazy to see the cars blasting past you with ridiculous amounts of speed. This section is also great during the night at the 24h race. You just see lights coming at you with the top teams reaching 300km/h. Crazy stuff.

6. Schumacher S at Nürburgring
At the International Drift Series this is always the beginning of the battle section. You get in there at like 150km/h and throw your car sideways, go all out for the next right hander and then brake down to about 50km/h while maintaining the drift.
Great fun.

7. Fast S at Anneau du Rhin
This is the part where you really have to be on top of your game at Anneau du Rhin. It is a fast left right combination with a small bump in it. Most serious accidents happen here due to people lifting and loosing the back end at 160km/h.
This was great with the Ae86 going full out in 4th gear right on the limit of the tires.
Gets your adrenalin going. 🙂
