Slalom Interlaken in the Grip AE86 by Andy LanzSlalom Interlaken in the Grip AE86 by Andy Lanz

Interlaken is the season opener. I’t always a big pleasure to start in Interlaken and a lot of anticipation is involved in this first slalom of the new season. Interlaken ist also one of the fastest slalom races in the calendar with speeds up to 200km/h!

The training was really good – I managed to get the 2nd fastest laptime. But unfortunately my first race run wasn’t that good at all. I hit a cone during a drift and cracked one of my handmade wheelarches – on top of that I got punished with a 10 second penalty!

For the 2nd race run I was really nervous, because that run now had to be perfect. I hit the last cone with the front wheelarch and got punished with another 10s penalty! In the end I came in 6th out of 11 drivers. Not that bad if you consider I was fined with 10 additional seconds in both runs!

Stay tuned for the report & video of the second slalom event this year, where I will accept nothing but a perfect run.
