Drift Challenge by Dark Dog 2012Drift Challenge by Dark Dog 2012

A bit of history and some news:

As we are all getting ready for this new 2012 drifting season, I would like to share some news from the main French drifting series called Drift Challenge and yes not to confuse with the other cool event also called Drift Challenge. I understand that it can be confusing because both have the same name but it’s clear that one is in Germany (jawoll) and is once a year. The other is in France (ouais ouais) and is a series/championship. This is the one I will talk about.

Entering their fourth year of existence, it is great news to hear that this championship is growing well. Being a relatively new championship on the European drift scene, it has come from far to be where it’s at today. Here’s how it all started. Back in the days, when the FFD (Federation Francaise de Drift) existed, they had their own low key championship.

Things went a bit sour after some years, so the FFD disappeared and the FDC (French Drift Community) took its place.

This is today’s new and updated logo of the FDC

The FDC being more of a community and offering track days for pleasure rather than a championship, it is after a year of existence that the Drift Challenge was born, in 2009 exactly.

That’s right when I started getting into competitions and had just put my sweet 6 point roll cage by Fabricage UK. And on top of that, it was dropped off at my door step, thanks to Alain. What service I tell you. Back then I wasn’t part of the team but that was kind of like the beginning for all of us. Thanks Alain 🙂

Anyways, this year’s main sponsor of the championship is Dark Dog energy drink. I think this is a great move forward for the French drift scene as it proves old problems can be solved. I will not go into detail about this but the concerned people know what I’m talking about and I think it’s good to see this move forward.

And thanks to the other big sponsors mentioned below, this year’s championship is looking mighty great.
