The first proper drift event I attended this year was the DriftChallenge organized by sport auto at the Hockenheim two weeks ago.
This event is special because it combines a supercar show, a race for tuners and a driftchallenge-/show all together in a two day event. Especially the second day on saturday is very well known and attracts a huge count of specetators.
Unfortunatelly there was so much going on that I only covered the drift part of it, but im sure most of you are interested in in the most.
on Friday morning there was open training on the east course at the Mercedes grandstand
Team Falken was there
and also some King of Europe drivers
Team Speed Industries was there with two drivers, Tobias with his all new white Silvia
and Swen in his trusty little AE86 screaming like a beehive
And of course a lot more of known drivers
In the afternoon was the qualification first
and the battles right after
Remmo impressed with his close driving
again
In the end, Remmo won before Alex. Congratulation to both, great driving !
Saturday morning was again open driving and taxi rides at the Mercedes curve
used by almost all drivers
that meant loots of driving time
also a lot of time for us photographers to experiment with special shots 🙂
In the afternoon was the drift shows at the famous sachs courve
which I think is great, especially because of all the spectators
They go crazy
And the drivers doing their best entertaining the crowd while the short interuptions when the marshalls have to clean the track because of excessive gravel on the track
as there was no competition this day
there was a constant stream of driftcars flying by
and even trains with four and more cars
after that the drivers from King of Europe got their slot
after a few training rounds they did a exibition battle
with some nice battles
in the end everyone left in a big cloud of smoke
