Photography Friday – Again AnneauPhotography Friday – Again Anneau

As the one last week, this week’s Photo Friday features an event held at Anneau du Rhin in France. After the JDM Allstars it’s the slightly more civilised 😉 group of drivers who enlisted for the this year’s july edition of the popular Speed Industries Trackday at Anneau.

Speed Industries driver Alain Thomet did some test miles in his driftcar in between sessions of his girlfriend aline taking to the wheel. Speed Industries mechanic Martin Stypinski in the passenger seat here.

As always, there was a split into alternating half-hour stints of Grip and Drift, which is a system that’s proven to work very well at our trackdays, with the drivers of both disciplines giving their best to be the fastest/craziest/smokiest/dirtiest?

You don’t need a million horsepower to enjoy a day on track with us! 🙂

I’m accustomed to having drifters on look out the side window in my pictures, but this is new.. (??)

As I’ve been on duty as a Speed Industries photographer since the very first event, Anneau du Rhin feels a bit like a seventh home to me (too many other important places to call anneau „second“, no offence to the racetrack 😉 ).

Nicolas Koenig from Driftshop.fr making nice use of his beautiful S15. Good job!

Especially at Speed Industries Events, where there’s always a lot of familiar people and cars around, the mood is just really relaxed and pretty much unparalleled at any other event I’ve been to so far.

I bet you guys didn’t expect to make it onto the blog, did you? 🙂

As it was Speed Industries driver Chris Redliner’s birthday, our own professional pastry cooks Isabel and Maria made several cakes for him, which were gladly devoured by everyone in attendance.. thanks again you two, they were very tasty!

Nothing wrong with good ol‘ pizza either, eh Stefan? 😉

Nevertheless, Anneau is still quite a challenge for me, as it’s not the easiest track to shoot at. Very often there is what looks like a tropical jungle where you would want to stand to get the perfect angle for a shot. Even if there is some free space it’s not always exactly comfy.

This is where I stood to get most drift shots this time.. at least there are no tigers ..I think?

To find this most secret of spots, follow the silverpics.ch cards! 😉

One advantage of Anneau is that you pretty much always have some colorful (well, green actually…) background to work with, which gives you some scope for crazy color gradings in photos.

Evo in full attack mode!

The long 180 degree corners are a blessing and a challenge at the same time, as they present a good opportunity to indulge in hours of happy panning..

Whichever driftevent you visit, you can always count on seeing at least one car from Driftteam Switzerland. There seem to be about 150 of them. 😉

At the same time those turns presents a real challenge, namely to find some other possibility to shoot cars there.

Mad Max being chased by his brother in his E46 M3 CSL.

The first time I’ve seen one of theses in the (very little) metal.. „airy“ is what comes to my mind.

*note to self: go search for some other photo spots next time.. don’t stick to habits..* 😉

Everyone took turns riding with the birthday boy. Thanks Chris for taking my friends for a ride!

Nothing much better than a well done and well drifted S15 in my opinion!!

Well I hope you enjoyed the pics, more of which you can as always find at silverpics.ch in higher resolution.

I’ll finish with the craziest of them all (that’s a compliment!), Stefan Pfister. Seriously, watch this guy once he gets a real car! 😉 And thanks for the rides!

hope to see you at a Speed Industries Event soon!!
